Candle Care & Safety

Our sculptural candles are designed first for decorative use.
Because they are pieces of art, their burn times and melt patterns will vary.
If you choose to light them, please follow these guidelines for a safe and beautiful burn:

Before lighting

  • Place your candle on a heat-safe, flat, non-porous surface that can catch dripping wax (ceramic plate, metal tray, coaster, etc.).

  • Keep away from curtains, paper, dried flowers, and anything that could catch fire.

  • Trim the wick to ¼ inch (6 mm) before every burn. A trimmed wick helps the candle burn cleaner and last longer.

While burning

  • Never burn a sculptural candle for more than 1 hour at a time.

  • Always keep the candle within sight. Do not leave it burning in another room or while you sleep.

  • Keep away from children, pets, and drafts (fans, open windows, AC vents). Drafts can cause uneven burning or excessive dripping.

  • If the flame becomes too high or the candle starts to smoke, extinguish it, trim the wick again, and relight once the wax has cooled.

After burning

  • Stop burning when about ½ inch (1 cm) of wax remains or the candle becomes unstable.

  • Let the wax cool completely before moving the candle or cleaning the plate/tray.

  • Store your candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or heat sources to protect their color and shape.

Important safety notes

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

  • Do not use candles as a night light or during power outages as an emergency light.

  • Do not touch or move a burning candle – the wax and container can be very hot.

Thank you for caring for your Mombattie candles with the same love we poured into making them. ✨
